Meet Ryan and Leanne Botha, the husband-and-wife team behind Alove Supreme, one of Cape Town’s most distinctive and delightfully colorful design brands.

Alove Supreme began in 2014 as a daring detour from Ryan and Leanne’s graphic design agency. What started as a creative adventure has grown into a much-loved South African brand, infused with their playful sense of humor, inspired approach to design and unwavering commitment to quality.

Their philosophy is wonderfully simple: Elevate the everyday.

Bold, bright and unmistakably original, Alove Supreme’s hand-drawn illustrations transform ordinary household items into pieces that make you smile. South Africa’s extraordinary flora, fauna and familiar icons provide endless inspiration, with proteas, indigenous botanicals and other distinctly local elements finding their way into their whimsical collections.

The People Behind the Patterns

Leanne Botha, Managing Director, is the heartbeat of Alove Supreme. She leads the team and manages the brand’s international sales while also being mom to three boys and two furry family members. Fueled by morning flat whites, podcasts and a good to-do list, Leanne brings the energy, determination and entrepreneurial spirit that keeps Alove Supreme moving forward.

Ryan Botha, Creative Director, is the imagination behind those instantly recognizable illustrations. A graphic designer and self-described life enthusiast, Ryan brings his wonderfully quirky sense of humor to every collection. His hand-drawn artwork gives Alove Supreme its unmistakable personality—playful, unexpected and never ordinary.

Why “A Love Supreme”?

Even the brand’s name has a story.

Ryan and Leanne were inspired by legendary jazz musician John Coltrane’s album A Love Supreme and, in particular, by the gratitude and purpose expressed in his original liner notes. His desire to use his gifts to bring happiness to others resonated deeply with them and continues to influence the way they approach their own creative work.

That idea—using what you have been given to create joy for someone else—feels beautifully at home at Ithemba Creations, too.

We are proud to share Alove Supreme with our Ithemba community. Their pieces are colorful and fun, but behind every pattern is something even more special: a husband-and-wife team building a South African business, celebrating local creativity and sharing a little piece of Cape Town with homes around the world.
