Eskom Crochet Planter
by Mia Melange
Mia Melange's newest addition. The Eskom Crochet Planter. Named after Eskom's infamous load shedding or load reduction. Load shedding or load reduction is done countrywide as a controlled option to respond to unplanned events to protect the electricity power system from a total black out. This is done on a regular basis, leaving South Africans with no power.
South Africans find opportunities in the darkest places (excuse the pun). Mia Melange don't let load shedding get them down, instead, they knuckled down and created the Eskom Planter! It's a product they can make without any electricity, and they can sit on the sidewalk and enjoy the sunshine while being perfectly productive during load shedding.
They are made from 100% cotton rope. The cotton is grown locally in South Africa.
Mia Mélange Eskom Planters are handmade in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
